2 debutants named in Barcelona squad to face Espanyol

Barcelona host Espanyol in the second leg of their Copa del Rey quarter-final tie on Thursday night.

Manager Ernesto Valverde has named January signings Philippe Coutinho and Yerry Mina in his squad for the derby.

Coutinho arrived on 6 January from Premier League giants Liverpool for an initial £105 million, rising to £142m.

The following week Barcelona announced the acquisition of Colombian centre-back Yerry Mina from Palmeiras.

With Thomas Vermaelen out with a hamstring injury and Javier Mascherano departing for the Chinese Super League, Mina could be in line for his debut against Espanyol.  Samuel Umtiti only made his return from a lengthy lay-off this past weekend and may not be ready to play twice in a week.

Coutinho arrived from England with a little injury and has only recently been declared fit.  Whilst the Brazilian isn’t expected to start the cup tie he could certainly make an appearance from the bench.  Though Ousmane Dembélé’s injury could force Valverde’s hand.

The full Barcelona squad list is as follows: Marc-André ter Stegen, Jasper Cillessen; Nélson Semedo, Gerard Piqué, Ivan Rakitić, Sergio Busquets, Andrés Iniesta, Luis Suárez, Lionel Messi, Philippe Coutinho, Paulinho, Paco Alcácer, Jordi Alba, Lucas Digne, Sergi Roberto, André Gomes, Aleix Vidal, Samuel Umtiti and Yerry Mina.
