Neymar stretchered off – could miss PSG-Real Madrid clash
Real Madrid travel to Paris Saint-Germain to take on the runaway French Ligue 1 leaders in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League second round tie on Tuesday 6 March.
The defending champions built up a 3-1 lead from the first leg at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium earlier this month thanks to goals in the final 10 minutes from Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo.
However, the tie is not over. Unai Emery’s side have a wealth of attacking talent and were actually many people’s and the bookmakers’ favourites to progress from the tie ahead of the first leg.
Real Madrid may now have been handed a huge advantage before the second leg in the French capital in nine days’ time as PSG star Neymar was stretchered off in the final 10 minutes after rolling his ankle.
The Brazilian star was in tears as he left the field – suggesting the injury could be serious. There is so far no update on how serious the injury is.
Following his world record £200 million arrival from Barcelona over the summer, Neymar has scored 28 goals in 30 games for his new club. This includes six goals in seven Champions League matches.
Paris Saint-Germain now have a 14-point lead at the top of the table in France with 11 games remaining.
