Barcelona agree deal for €30m Brazilian midfielder

Barcelona have announced they have come to an agreement with Brazil Serie A club Grêmio for the signing of Brazilian midfielder Arthur.

The La Liga leaders have agreed the price of €30 million up front plus a further €9m in add-ons.

Arthur is known for his excellent passing ability in his homeland and at the age of 21 has already won both the Copa Libertadores and Brazilian Cup.  He also has the ability to unlock defences in the final third and is good at looking after the ball.

The youngster has represented his country at under-17 and under-20 levels and has even been called up to the senior national team on a number of occasions but is yet to make his debut for Brazil.

Arthur made his Grêmio debut in 2016 under Luiz Felipe Scolari before becoming a regular in the first team from 2017.  He has since become a valuable player in the first team, notably putting in a man of the match performance in the second leg of the 2017 Copa Libertadores final against Argentine side Lanús.
