La Liga trio find out Champions League 1/4 opponents

The draw for the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals took place today with the Spanish La Liga having the most teams represented in the final eight.

Runaway La Liga leaders Barcelona, defending champions Real Madrid, and Sevilla were all eagerly awaiting to find out who their opponents were in today’s draw.

Real Madrid have been paired with Juventus in one of the ties of the round.  This is a repeat of last season’s final in which the Spanish giants ran out convincing 4-1 winners.  The first leg will take place at the Juventus Stadium on Tuesday 3 April, before the return leg in the Spanish capital on Wednesday 11 April.

Many will argue that Barcelona have been handed the most favourable draw of the quarter-finals as they will be up against AS Roma.  The first leg takes place at Camp Nou on Wednesday 4 April, with the return in Italy’s capital on Tuesday 10 April.

Roma reached the quarter-finals by eliminating Ukrainian Premier League side Shakhtar Donetsk on away goals earlier this month.

Sevilla caused the upset of the last round when they beat English Premier League side Manchester United 2-1 at Old Trafford in their second leg, to progress by the same scoreline on aggregate.  Vincenzo Montella’s side have been rewarded with a tricky task against German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.  They will be in action on the same dates as Real Madrid, with the first leg being played at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium.

The complete draw is as follows:

Barcelona vs AS Roma
Sevilla vs Bayern Munich
Juventus vs Real Madrid
Liverpool vs Manchester City
