Real Madrid sign Jović

Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Luka Jović from Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 21-year-old striker is coming off a breakthrough season in Germany where he scored 17 goals in 32 Bundesliga appearances (25 starts) for the Eagles. He has signed a six-year contract, keeping him at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium until 30 June 2025.

Jović had previously been on loan from Benfica from the start of the 2016-17 season before Eintracht Frankfurt exercised a clause in Jović’s contract to make his loan move permanent on 17 April 2019.

Neither club has disclosed the transfer fee but the Independent are reporting that Real Madrid will be paying €60 million for the striker.

On Saturday, Serbia under-21s head coach Goran Đorović included Jović in his squad for the upcoming Euro under-21 Championship in Italy and San Marino later this month.

The striker is a natural finisher and a good threat from set pieces. He is good at bringing teammates into play. It will be interesting to see what manager Zinedine Zidane has planned for the youngster given the form of Karim Benzema at the end of last season.
