James Rodríguez returns to Real Madrid
Bayern Munich have confirmed that James Rodríguez has returned to Real Madrid following his two-year loan in Germany.
A statement on the Bundesliga champions’ website stated that the Colombian international asked the Bavarians not to take up the purchase opportunity between the two clubs.
Zinedine Zidane returned as Real Madrid manager back in March, but it was under the French boss that Rodríguez was actually loaned out to Bayern Munich.
The 27-year-old made 67 appearances in all competitions during his two years away from Real Madrid, scoring 15 goals and providing 20 assists. He won the German league title and the DFL Supercup in 2018 and 2019, as well as the the DFB Cup this past season. Rodríguez had previously been in the Real Madrid first team for three seasons following his arrival after the 2014 World Cup.
Real Madrid have already added 18-year-old forward Rodrygo Goes to their squad this summer, so it will be interesting to see if James Rodríguez still has a future at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
